Synopsis:
This inspirational book tells the story of three little trees which each had a dream about what their future would hold. The first dreamed of becoming a treasure chest which would hold a great diamond that sparkled like a star of the night sky. The second dreamed of becoming the strongest sailing ship in the world so that he could carry powerful kings across the ocean. The third wanted to grow very tall so that people would think of God when they lifted up their eyes to look at him.
Then one day three woodcutters came along and cut the trees down. This led to immediate disappointment for the third tree and later also for the first and second trees when they found they had not been fashioned into the objects of their dreams.
But after a few years they each had an encounter with a very special person which make them realise that their dreams had come true in a more wonderful way than they could ever had imagined.
The book is an adaptation of a traditional Lebanese story that has helped to foster the faith of generations of children. It would be appreciated by children of all ages, as well as adults. Filled with beautiful illustrations, this hardcover retelling of the tale is great value at the modest price. Though the story relates to Jesus' crucifixion, it also reveals that God's plan for us is greater than the plans we ourselves may have. If we follow God's will, our lives will be very rich indeed. We can all be the inspiration for new life in others. If you have not read ‘The Three Trees' yet, give yourself a treat and find a moment to read it.
